Support Worker, Learning Disabilities – Central Cheshire

Overview:

We require an experienced individual to support one of our clients with severe learning disabilities.  The client is a very active individual who does not sit still and needs constant monitoring.  The individual is non-communicative but will respond to verbal and visual prompts.

Support is needed to provide respite for the client’s family on a Saturday from 12.30 until 18.30.  It will involve providing the client with drinks and snacks, encouraging to eat a main meal, entertaining the client in the home, accompanying on a walk around the local area (takes approximately 1 hour), showering and settling the client for the evening.

This role requires excellent communication, listening and observational skills to identify signs of physical or emotional problems with our client and to communicate well with the family. The client is a lovely individual who likes to have familiar faces so we have a very small team providing support and need to expand this due a current care worker moving out of the area.

You will need to be confident in your abilities and able to use your initiative to provide full care and support for this individual. Additional training will be given with shadowing of current care team members.

Additional hours available if required on our home care rota visiting different individuals in their own homes.

Key Points:

  • Employment is subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and the right to work in the UK
  • 1 years' experience supporting vulnerable individuals with learning disabilities preferred
